EXTRACURRICULAR RECORDING POLICY:
Recording Policy
Recording and making music is a privilege that we want every student to enjoy. However, it is a privilege that must be earned, maintained, and respected. Students who are not a yellow shirt or higher will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular recording, using instruments, or any external microphones or devices. All students will be allowed to use the basic functionality of Soundtrap so long as they remain in compliance with these rules. Any violation of these rules will result in a suspension or ban of all Soundtrap access. This is a zero-tolerance policy and we reserve the right to revoke privileges at any time.
The following applies to all students, all Soundtrap accounts, and all recordings:
1. All lyrics for extra-curricular recordings must be officially submitted for review and approval by Mr. Sage prior to recording.
2. All lyrics for your personal Soundtrap account must be approved and signed off by a teacher prior to recording.
3. No freestyle recordings will be allowed
4. Any glorification of drugs, gang-related content, cursing, violence, sexually explicit content, or innuendo, will result in revoking of all student musical privileges indefinitely.
5. These rules apply to any lyrics, written in any location. If students are caught with inappropriate content, all music privileges will be immediately revoked.
6. Student Soundtrap accounts will be regularly monitored for content. Any inappropriate content found will result in a ban from Soundtrap and all musical privileges.
7. Any attempt to obscure, conceal, or secretly include any drug-related content, gang-related content, cursing, violence, sexually explicit content, or innuendo, within the lyrical content of a song will be met with a ban from Soundtrap.
8. At this time content recorded at Durango will no longer be released.
Music and art are about free expression. You can express yourself however you like outside of this facility. But while students are here, we expect quality work that is positive and appropriate for a school setting. Appropriate and healthy expression are valued and encouraged; inappropriate expression will not be tolerated.
